Plagiarism Policy

Plagiarism Policy

Plagiarism can occur in two primary forms:

  1. When an author deliberately copies someone else's work and claims it as their own.

  2. When an author reuses their own previously published work—whether in full or in part—without proper citation, also known as self-plagiarism or duplicate publication.

Plagiarism Before Publication

The International Journal of Integrated Science and Technology (IJIST) carefully evaluates each case of plagiarism based on its severity. If plagiarism is detected—whether by editors, peer reviewers, or editorial staff—at any stage before publication (including after acceptance, during editing, or at the proof stage), the author(s) will be notified. They will be required to either rewrite the plagiarized section or properly cite the original source.

If plagiarism is found to be extensive—meaning 20% or more of the submitted content is plagiarized—the manuscript may be rejected, and the author’s institution or employer may be informed.

When is Plagiarism Checked?

All manuscripts submitted to the International Journal of Integrated Science and Technology (IJIST) undergo a plagiarism check after submission and before editorial review begins.

How is Plagiarism Checked?

The IJIST employs PlagScan and Turnitin software to detect text similarities and potential plagiarism in submitted manuscripts.

  • PlagScan is a web-based service that verifies document authenticity.

  • Turnitin is a widely recognized plagiarism detection tool used in academic publishing.

However, in certain cases, plagiarism may not be immediately detectable due to access restrictions. This can happen if the original work is:

  • Not indexed by article databases.

  • Not freely accessible due to restrictions imposed by publishers or programmers.

When this occurs, the plagiarism check might not identify the original source, but such cases will still be reviewed manually when necessary.

Plagiarism Declaration

To uphold ethical publishing standards, every author submitting to the International Journal of Integrated Science and Technology (IJIST) is required to complete and submit a Plagiarism-Free Statement. This form must be uploaded as an additional file in the Open Journal System (OJS) or sent via email to admin@multitechpublisher.com along with the manuscript submission.

The Plagiarism Declaration Form can be downloaded from the journal's website and must be submitted with the manuscript.
